Daily Dave - The Blyatsu's underdog brother

I have thought about that. In fact, the 3SZ gearbox came with a hydraulicly operated clutch. The problem is that the factory pedal from the Sirion/Materia/Terios (from which the 3SZ came) doesn’t fit the L7. Back in the day, the day before I was going to swap the engine, I eventually converted it to cable. Maybe one day I’ll convert it to hydraulic, but that would need some custom work I’m not able to do right now. It’s added to my immense long ‘to-do’-list

A little under two weeks ago, I went on a trip to the Nürburgring with the bois. The Blyatsu is currently being tuned (and I’m scared that Ze Germans take my car because it’s not exactly legal yet) so I took Dave to Germany. My friends were trying to persuade me into doing a lap in Dave, which I wasn’t really sure about. I kinda wanted to do it, but I was very afraid of binning it (which is an expensive thing to do at the 'Ring) or getting rear ended by something with at least 10 times the power. At the end of Saturday I decided to take my chances because, as one of my mates told me, “the track is fairly quiet near the end of the day”. Yeah right.

The Golf cutting me off in the 4th corner of the track set the mood. I was inexperienced, the car was underpowered and I was ruining everyone’s line (tbf it’s TF not a trackday but I’m sure no-one will agree with me on that), but it was also very entertaining. We were driving with two yellow, small shitboxes (the other one being a Fiat Seicento) with equal weight and power, so we stuck together for most of the track. I was actually the slower driver but the Fiats brakes were overcooked so quickly, my friend decided to just stick with me and my slow pace. He did actually manage to overtake me at some point, but a little while later, I got a change to overtake him in ‘Karussell’, which got us this gem of a picture:

Absolutely legendary shot. Doing my first ever lap (on any track) with my mates is something I will remember for the rest of my life, with this picture to prove it happened!

well done mate for getting in and giving it a go. I wish we had a track as long over here. None the less driving on track is really fun. Great pic too!
