New to this Forum Doug Thomas

Continuing the discussion from Welcome to LIVETODAI:

New to this Forum, Doug Thomas from Arizona. I have a 2000 Mira Gino S Minilite Edition with AWD, 5-Speed & Turbo. Love the little car and it’s proving to be a challenge to source parts here in the States! I’m up for the challenge and did much the same when I owned a Mk1 Cortina.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Doug! Another Arizona member, we are everywhere . Where in AZ are you located, I’m down in Cochise County, outside of Benson. Good luck with your car, and you are correct, parts for our cars can be difficult!

I drive a 1992 Rocky SX and I am trying to restore it to like new condition. Done a lot, but still things to do.

I have never seen the model you have Doug. It sure is a sharp little car!

sorry for the short reply. I was in a bit of a rush and didn’t want to not say anything. Your gino sounds awesome. I would love to see a pic or 2. What engine is in it? We didnt get the Gino here in Australia so Many import the parts and convert the L7’s to Gino’s. We also never got the AWD edition. Is it a 2 or 4 door? Australia only got 2 door’s also.

Still getting used to the Forum procedures and do’s and don’ts, guess links might not be permitted.

The car was on Bring a Trailer, and I purchased the car from the high bidder when she found out it couldn’t be registered in California. The car does not look like a 100,000 to me as the seller advertised (he didn’t realize the last digit of the odometer was tenths) still though, the odometer is slow but the tropometer appears to be accurate. The Timing Belt Sticker under the hood is difficult to read and even with the Google lens, the last replacement is a bit of a mystery. I suppose I should change the belt to establish a baseline and give me some peace of mind! The car is definitely fun to drive, peppy performance, shifts smoothly and surprisingly not many people notice it’s RHD? It has been a bit of a learning curve getting used to sitting on the other side with the random turning on the wipers instead of the turn signals lol.

Welkome to the Club

Thats a nice Gino is it a 600 or 1000 cc engine.

I brought your original post over to this thread so its all in one place. The system flagged you as spam a bit and I have tried to resolve it. not sure if it has completely worked please let me know if there is any posts missing that you have done and I will do my best to resolve it. (we had to step up the security in the forum as we had a big bot attack a while ago and more thing now get flagged).

Thank you! 660cc Turbo AWD

Thank you! I’ll figure out the forum eventually lol

The Rocky was sold here in the states in 1990 to 1992 and show up at the breakers occasionally. Are you having any issues sourcing parts?

I am somewhat nervous about parts availability into the future. I love the car you have. It has a Volvo PV444 vibe about it (and that is a complement).
