I bought a first-generation Terios 6 months ago for daily use and light off-road and overland driving. My car only has 90,000 km on it, but I’ve measured an oil consumption of 1.1 liters per 5000 km, and frankly, I’m a bit put off. I’m not used to high oil consumption compared to my other cars (1.3 Multijet - Yamaha 660 Tenere). It will be used for approximately 5000-7000 km per year.
Meanwhile, the car is not emitting any smoke, has no engine speed issues, nothing is wrong with it. Everything works perfectly and it performs very well.
Currently, I have Castrol 10-40. For the next service, I will use Motul 8100 5-40, a Mann 67/2 oil filter, Motul engine flush, and Denso K20BR-S10 spark plugs.
Do you think I can get good performance from this car under these usage conditions for 5 years? Honestly, I bought this as a solid Japanese car and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of things like engine rebuilds. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
if its the k3 engine it will be rings. they tend to get gummed up if not serviced regularly as the hoils behind the the rings are slightly too small from factory.
I think I wrote it incorrectly above. My fuel consumption is 1.1 liters per 5000 km. That’s about 0.25 liters per 1000 km. Do you think this engine can be used for many years like this?

Yes, 0.25l/1000km is fine, the engine will live many more years. Keep the oil changes regular and it’ll go on and on. If you regularly thrash the engine over 5000rpm then keep a close eye on the oil level (well, do that anyway) but in normal use it will be fine.
I have a K3 engine Sirion and it definitely gets through more oil than your Terios, its on 122,000 miles/150,000 km and it runs fine. It does soot up O2 sensors a bit but other than that its fine.

Honestly, to avoid any problems, I bought the one with the lowest mileage. The previous owner was an elderly gentleman who didn’t use it much.
I only recently had the chance to do a detailed maintenance check, and I’ll be using Motul 8100 5 40. It gets very hot where I live in the summer, so I think that’s a suitable choice. I’ll also be using Motul Engine Clean before changing the oil.
