Bought this in Wallonia (BE) beginning of Juli. Been looking for one for years. Many base models for sale but almost none w/ Airconditioning. Without A/C i would lose my driving license (Med reason hypo-unaware)
2008 - 85d km (53k mls) - manual - 51 kW. Never before seen this spec L276. Paid 3.950 Euro incl. with new battery, water pump, 4 tires, front brake pads & A/C check and fill-up. Let me know your thoughts pls.
In Belgium 2nd hand cars get a mandatory gov tech inspection check + Car-pass validation (yearly mileage registration since 2006) Every dent & scrape recorded ! Small city cars a very sought after in Belgium & the last 3 yrs prices have been very high. This L276 was garage kept & has no rust but not museum condition. No 2 countries markets are exactly the same so comparing to yours is invalid …
There was a minor dent in the tailgate but that’s been fixed now. The rear left door handle is loose. When i bought it, it came with the from new maintenance history by Daihatsu & Toyota dealers. That alone is worth 1/4 of the price here … I swore i would never buy black again but apart from gray metallic base models this was the only one that was well equiped. Remember that a lot less Daihatsu’s were sold in Belgium compared to NL. Inside it’s nice as well …
Sweet little vehicle ! You sure found an unit that seems to be a worry-free deal, despite being listed for absurd prices yeah, both in Belgium and France (for my part)
I have no idea how the L276 sold compared to the L251 in Europe, but I’ve seen less of them for sure
About parts, this is a 1KR-FE under the bonnet, the same engine as the C1/107 and Aygo, widely common enough for not having to worry about that — just remember to do your oil changes, and it’ll be close to able to outlive you lol
Don’t worry, this is my 3rd Daihatsu (L80/L251) & my GF’s ride is a 2011 Aygo Orange Spice, so i know the engine very well ! Thx anyway. Btw, water pump can also be a weakness ! Yes the price was high but it’s the only one in Sport Aero i have ever seen listed in my tiny country so i gladly paid up as i’ve been wanting one for a decade. New with Aero pack, the L276 was absurdly expensive for it’s time ! In 2008 Belgium the price for the Premium Sport Aero was 12.395 Euro. Also, 2000 Euro of work & new pieces were put in as per sale contract, which means the L276 was 1.950 as it sat without gov tech inspection or work. For the low mileage & how clean & rare it is, that’s cheap …
It needs a flush atf mix 50% and 5w30 and after that just 0w20 and keeps changing 5000km (city drive) or 9000km highway only and engine will stay healthy.
I only drive mixed routes for my job (Transport of medical admin). 70 % City (30-50 km/h) & 30 % Ring Road (90 km/h). Even on the highway my max is 90 ! I’ve seen too many crashes in my previous jobs, so my speed is low. That’s how i get to 5.1L/100 km.
I just discovered what the “rattle” in the dash was ! LOL, i had no clue that the slanted vertical piece next to the steering wheel was a storage compartment ! I only found it by accidently grazing it with my hand … It contained many very small pencils, no idea what for ! That was the rattle …
