'99 Cuore L700 TR "Daihachu", Poland [EU]

Hi, some bump is needed, info aquired

Found burnt M300 at scrapyard, good thing that some of them post auctions or info when they have something interesting or uncommon.

Looks like I was a while before sending this to foundry, because it was moved far back of the yard where giant jaws puting dead bodies at back of the trailer….

Salvaged:

-complete both front struts (dont fit, too long, more info later. Plan to use all strut elements, but with daweoo matiz shock)

-rear swaybar (too wide, more info in salam-s topic, or later when I’ll be moding this)

And biggest question, am I old and miss-matching info, or EU M300 have 243mm brakes instead 234mm?

Oh, brakes fits no problem, info from webs confirmed!

Oh, you may noticed that roof is yellow. Tried paint roller paiting, but gave up. Not happy about results. I will try air gun with 2K poliurethane paint (so called “top coat”, paint without clear, a bit oldschool) instead acrylic “hardware store, fence paint”

Mentioning this because color is chosen since begining, so I think we may official change the tread name, and nickname this car Daihachu or Mirachu.

Wasnt die-hard pokemon fan, but yes- pokemon boom was ideal during my childhood. Everyone was colecting tazos… sigh, about 25 years ago…

Todays bonuses:

Showroom condition polish fiat 125p, also shitty polish “historic” license plates visible

Car that my Dad finished 2015 Zlombol Rally at Passo del Stelvio (ITA). Still in use by teammate. FSO Polonez Caro (called “minus” to separe from facelifted Caro Plus) was last production car Poland ever made :face_with_head_bandage:

Notice old polish black plates, considered only and true historic by polish peteolheads. Plates are non reflective, so goverment tries to suffocate these by changing registratuon rules (like: you cant transfer these plates during buy-sell)

Daihachu with our miata-powered caro plus to compare. That was last facelift, forced by FSO factory staff. Rumor says that keeping polonez alive when Daewoo came to take over the factory eas part of the deal with factorys labor union. Even if it was pointles from about… 1995 to keep polonez in production… why?

Some deep polish trivia: this 1980s fiat from first photo and our car from 1998 shares the same floorpan

Daihachu with materia. Surprised how many of these are here. Second place after M300 sirion

Daihachu with european opel agilla. Propably from our opel Gliwice plant that is only 20km away

Remember speedhunters “random snap”? An single photo post, this died when site was grown up. Still have tons of random snaps like that, we even so called this “speedhunting” amongs friends…

Suzuki alto in wildlife

Heres some heavy hitter- fiat cinquechento was produced in poland, FSM factory, Tychy, or Bielsko Biala (cant remember) first versions had FSM badge instead Fiat and had 700cc two cylinder engine, somewhat related to Fiat 126 bis (watercooled) earli model with black plates are last of these kind…

Lastly: : Daihachu with my friends volvo brick. He finally had to gave up daily driving this 740. Bought legacy BP for the time of brick restoration

Super special stage: I gave up videographing, not much time, this is not youngsterhood anynore…but came back to analogue photo. Heres few Fai-reated shots from my Minolta XG-M (1981-84) still cant match aperture to light condituons, but this feeleing of shutter clack is hard to beat… pure fun rediscovered. Leaning more towards lomography, so dont bother much. Two darker photos was edited fyi, had some heavy thinkering that it is okay, its not analogue anymore, heh?

Whole analogue thing is inspired by Turnpike (backroads) article about guy who documenting japanese car scene only at 35mm film

That’s a desireable item. If the price is right, I would buy it for later re-sale, if I were you.

It looks like somebody attempted to open the bonnet and couldn’t. Is the drivetrain still in there and is the transmission an automatic?

Head was disasembled Butch, but dont know what was taken, looks like one of camshafts.

Really? When I was browsing around webs it seems that many of M300 had swaybars. You can lurk at main polish parts sites: otomoto (hard to navigate, parts auctions are new there), allegro or olx

Butch, I tried to fit some other car swaybar, but dunno where to find dimensions. Cardoc+? From photos some modeo or focus-related models had similar swaybar, but it will be more custom. Brackets modified to swaybar. Who knows how big these needs to be….Narrower bar is better that too wide in this case.

In book “the dog stars” theres great scene, where they just burn cedar furniture. Protagonist used great line here, I hope I translate this correctly:

“Value measured by needs”.

Thats my current feelings about this

That sirion sway costs me about 25EUR, so I ll rather modify this one. But yeah, someone on the other side of the world may cry about this…

Another catchphrase comes to mind: one mans junk, anothers man treasure… looks like theres not much demand for dai parts. I’ve paid around 400zl (about 95EUR) for all mentioned parts

If the bar is too wide, you could cut it in the middle, shorten each half to fit and then weld both ends into a tube whose inside diameter measures the sway bar’s outside diameter. You will need to weld everything in spots, allowing each spot to cool down, before filling in the joint with more spots, perferably through pouring cold water onto each spot. The welding and cooling of each spot is necessary. Otherwise, you could soften the bar, through overheating

You literally reading my mind Butch

It should work like these racing swaybars mentioned earlier
