I’m currently planning to rebuild and upgrade the K3-VET engine in my car. My current plan is to keep everything stock except for a set of high-lift cams from Compact Motor Sport and valve springs from a KJ-VET (Boon X4), with a goal of hitting 200 hp.
I wanted to ask the Daihatsu experts out there: how much boost (in psi) and horsepower can the stock pistons and connecting rods safely handle?
I want a safe and reliable tune with plenty of headroom to make the engine last, so I’m also considering upgrading to forged pistons and other aftermarket internals.
This is my first time rebuilding and tuning an engine, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
