I’ll be picking up some CB parts for my G11 this weekend. owner says he has a CB-61 and what is assumed to be a turbo gearbox. Is there anyway to tell externally or any codes, the differences between a N/A box and a Turbo box?
I’m only interested in it for the slightly shorter diff ratio as I run a CB-23 on dirt and have run out of tyre to tune my gear ratios lol.
You would be able to look at L7, sirion 3ycl and L251 gearbox’s also. Not sure about the ratio’s or strength but I have had the L251 box bolted up to an ed10 and had a cb23 box bolted to an ed10 also. They pretty much look like an identical box on the outside. The clutches are the same also.
Would that mean g11 half shafts or possibly g200 series cb shafts fit an l700 or EJ powered gearbox? and then the diff gears would be similar and somehow I could end up with a lsd from a late model gearbox? Thats my biggest limitation on the dirt!
This is all very helpful! By LSD I meant an aftermarket like Cusco or one from compact motorsport. I have found other threads on ratios too, so I’m forming a plan. By that logic a copen box with the 5.45 diff gear could be made to fit on an ej/k3 and thus a CB?
The drive shaft thing is promising, I’m getting a trailer of ex speedway parts in a few weeks to try out what fits from a g200 and what I can adapt!
I did drive an L200 with a jbjl in it years ago and that eventually blew and the owner put an ejde in it and I believe kept the same gearbox until that crapped out too.
I wasn’t sure if compact only did the K series gearbox gears or if they did the 3cyl ones also.
I had a CB box bolted to a copen motor so the inverse should be doable. Most daihatsu 5 speeds have the same 3 bolts underneath that the g11 mount bolts to also
