Hey I’m Mark and I’m new to this forum and cars in general. Started my car journey half a year ago and now I’m the proud owner of a G100 Charade Limited. There are some things I’d like to upgrade on this particular car and I have some questions regarding spare parts.
- Are there ways I can safely give my CB23 some more power (without adding aftermarket turbo)? I love the sound it makes but sometimes I wish it was a tiny bit more powerful.
- I have this Exhaust manifold with what I guess is a thermostat attached to it which I cannot find anywhere. All the spare parts are different exhaust manifolds and I’m not sure if they’re “better” or if they’re compatible with my engine.
- Are there sites or people I should contact for certain information? (I’m based in the Netherlands)
Hey mate Welcome to the forum. Thermostat is located in the cooling system. The big round barrel type thing is the catalytic converter.
Your are lucky as there are quite a few members from The Netherlands in here.
To get more out of a cb23 would be to have a bigger exahaust 1.75-2 inch exhaust system extractors/ headers would help also and get your flywheel lightened which means separating the engine and gearbox and getting the flywheel machined which is s rather large jog to get done. Carby tuned in properly or possibly a toyota 3k carby and tuned properly.
Thats the ideas I can think of. You can also look at thing to make it handle better also like suspension etc.
So let’s say I would like to get that all done. Do I need to get the exhaust/ intake system done by hand? Also for the Toyota 3k carburator, do I need to get a custom adapter plate and tuning for that specific carburator? I’m guessing it’s not an easy bolt on solution. Also for the wheels, it now has some pretty big wheels on it, which I guess also has a tiny impact on performance. The man i bought it from also said they were a tad bit too big. The rear arches have been rolled to fit the wheels it currently has.
probably for now stay with the carby thats on it. Yes exhaust would need to be made. I dont think you can buy bolt on ones. Headers/extractors you may still be able to get.
