Copen - Changing from Drum to Disc brakes

Hi, I have a 2007 Copen 1.3 with the K3-VE engine.

I was wondering if anyone had changed the drums on the back of the Copen for discs, and if anybody had any guidance or tips for upgrading all the brakes on the car (brands, sizing, installation advice)?

The fronts are about the biggest in the brake’s in the series you will get. Rear disc can be done but there is alot of modification and not many people go about doing it.

Whats the endgame? Better braking performance? If so, the rear brakes only do about 10% of the overall braking effort on most cars so its a lot of work for minimal improvement.

Something probably more worthwhile, a lot cheaper and a lot quicker would be looking at the pads and discs on the front wheels. If available, Ferodo DS2500 pads on stock calipers and discs will make a big difference. Otherwise see what Black Diamond Performance or EBC have in stock that would fit standard calipers.

I have black diamond pads on my 2004 Sirion and they are cheap but I wasn’t that impressed if I’m honest. They may need more bedding in, or got hotter to really bite? You may find them better than me though. EBC greenstuff/yellowstuff/redstuff pads are supposed to be very good but I’ve not tried them personally.

Are your front brakes 254mm discs?

I think they are 246mm, but I have not confirmed it
