Cuore/mira l7(01) seat rails

hello everyone i recently bought a daihatsu cuore l701, in metallic ligth green (g27), which i find to be very old school due to not having power mirror or power steering and the enormous amount of racket it makes due to being a 3 cylinder.

Will be my first car and will do some break discs/pad and oil+ filter + sparkplugs soon as i think maintenance was neglected.

Nevertheless my problem is that i am quite tall 190+cm and the steering wheel kinda hits my knees. I was thinking of some metal brackets to make them go further back a couple of centimers.

Any tips on what i should be looking for or how to tackle this problem. ( budget is very low so i wont be buying some custom seat rail from japan ahahaha )

Welcome. We like to help newcomers, so you might get a bit more help if you do an post in the introduction section.

Use the search function herein and see what you come up with. Some of your questions have already been answered here. Not sure of your fabrication skills. To lower my seats I pulled the fabric and foam off. Next was to alter the frame so it sat lower and my back deeper into the backrest. I cut the old bolstering off, welding new 19mm tube in making it taller and narrowing the seat at the same time. Height was an estimate so the org covers would still fit. Heat the bolsters to around 600deg C and carefully push the foam over to make more room for the the bigger tube. Do a cold run and figure how far you will need to push as you still want 20mm of foam above the new tubes. Oh steam the foam to bring it back to the orig shape taking any compressed back to new.

Smaller steering wheel helps. I like the top of the wheel no higher or lower than the base of my skull. I also like a close wheel and modded the column to extend it 70mm (earlier cars I did with spacers). Brining it close should bring the wheels off you knees. I also put 15-20mm spacers between the sliders and seat with longer bolts for the front mount position. This was due to my legs not having support.

Have fun.
