Hello, good day. I am the proud owner of a 2001 Daihatsu Cuore L701 with an EJ-VE engine and a 3-speed automatic transmission. I am from Belgium.
I have only owned the car for one month, but I am already looking for some parts, such as a new gas strut for the trunk and a parcel shelf. I am also considering swapping the 3-speed automatic transmission for a 4-speed automatic. Apparently this should be possible according to what I have read on Google, using a gearbox from a Daihatsu Copen (L880K) or a Cuore L250/L260.
Is this possible? “With the 4-speed automatic transmission, do I need to replace anything else or do something in the ECU, and do I need to replace the gear shifter and interior parts, or are they the same?
I would like to do this to lower the engine RPM when driving on the highway, which should also improve fuel consumption.

An update on my project today: I carried out an anti-rust treatment on the known problem areas of this car—on the driver’s side at the front, underneath the front fender. I’m planning to do the other side as well, so it can last for many more years.
I also have a question: are there any other places where this car is known to rust?
