My new build
I’m working on an engine rebuild and definitely want to tackle the pistons.
The engine was smoking even worse than a junkie with a joint.
But for an engine with only 137,876 km
I think the oil scraper rings were stuck.
That turns out to be correct, which is what I thought.
Here’s where I ordered connecting rod bearings for my L601. They may be identical?: Items for sale by globalavto | eBay You could also use Plastigage for determining if your bearings and crankshaft are within specification. At that low of a milage, if the engine has been punctually serviced, new rings and bearings shouldn’t be necessary
okay I have a question, where is the best place to attach my oil line for my turbo.
I don’t know where the best place is on the engine block, or should I make an attachment point somewhere.
Can anyone help me, I have no clue.
In that top image, where an external line running from that casting behind the oil filter is connected, is this connected to your turbocharger?
In that second image, I’m almost sure that where you have that pressure hose connected is where an oil pressure spring regulates an oil control valve. I’ll jump over to Windows 10 where I have a pdf showing what’s in that circuit
No need to worry. That looks like an unavoidable drilling for connecting the oil circuitry. In other words, it’s safe to connect your turbocharger’s line onto it.
The pressure spring is located within the aluminium oil pump assembly, as shown in an ED’s illustration:
