Just joined the forum since I recently bought a 2003 Sirion Sport. Its not perfect but great fun so far. I noticed the gear stick is extremely floppy, so I want to change the bushings and rubbers asap. I’ve already found the thread with correct part numbers so many thanks!
I feel like the car doesn’t need much work besides the gearbox mechanism and an alignment, so any tips or advice on what I can do next to improve the car are welcome! Greetings from the Netherlands
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a great buy. Seems like your in a great part of the world. There is quite a few people here from the Netherlands.
Would love to see a pic of you sirion.
I’ve bought a lowering kit (the red one) for the front suspension and put stiffer rear spring in the back. I really like the feel of a soft front and stuff rear. It helps with the understeer. Other than that (and better wheels/tires) I don’t really know what you could improve without doing something huge.
Meet Kermit ! No proper pics yet but this was from the advert. I’ve since polished the headlights and cleaned the interior. My friend owns everything I need to detail the car, so will update when it’s nice and shiny again.
Would that be the cobra springs? All the lowering kits i’ve seen are red. My tyres are almost brand new so not sure if i want to do the upgrade now, but maybe if I manage to find a nice and cheap set of 15x6J wheels. Recommended setup is 185/55/R15 correct?
I’ve had 185 and 195. 195 is just a bit to wide in combination with the rims I’ve got. The ET value is something you need to check (learn from my mistakes). Now with 185 I really don’t notice any difference in grip so I would stick with those.
Below are the springs that I bought. I believe the best setup is stiffer rear springs and front original. But I liked the lowered look. I’ve had to cut the rear springs (I believe they were from a Suzuki Swift ‘97?) because they were to long, just like the “oh look a penny!” Meme. The cut springs make some noise when going over bumps diagonaly but after 100+k they never fel out etc. But it is a risk you should be willing to take when cutting your springs.
