In regards to the t-piece fitting even though you have probably fixed it by now.
I have found a little hack that if the hose your using is slightly to large you can buy some heat shrink that has the glue inside to stick over the t piece to add a bit extra thickness then clamp it on.
EOI
Unfortunately due to personal circumstances going to have to let the Cuore go.
If interested contact me for a price.
Cheers
So midway through doing a dealio with someone and this afternoon driving home i think I am about to lose third gear
FML
Third gear is kinda rattle can sound, clutch in sound goes away, clutch out sound comes back, into forth or second sound is gone, back into third its backâŚ
Thoughts?
Most likely a worn lay shaft bearing. The bearing usually goes and causes the gears to mesh badly and rattle around. Fourth gear is 1:1 so usually wonât get noise on that.
Itâs either that or not so common a chipped tooth but that wouldnât really be a rattle but more of a knocking/ thumping every time Its rotated.
Maybe go to a specialist for opinion, although I totally agree with @Paulep82 about the worn bearing on the layshaft.
I went to Tuggeranong Transmissions once, to try to diagnose a âthunk/clunkâ which happened every time I changed gears in an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. The guy drove my car with me in it, put it on his hoist too, to check the mounts and driveshafts.
He couldnât establish what was wrong and refused my offer of payment.
I wasnât expecting anything for free, so I got them some morning tea Not that often a workshop refuses payment!
@DirkOz nice one
Didnât realise you were in Canberra as well mate!
Well the car has started making noise in 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
It is specifically around 2500-3500rpm, it happens clutch out and backing off the throttle. If I clutch in it shuts up, if i give it some power it gets quieter (maybe or its just the engine is louderâŚ)âŚ
For now I have stopped driving the car as it is getting louder, I have checked briefly under the car to make sure its not leaking oil or something but it does not appear to be⌠On the weekend I will get it on the flat part of my drive and check the oil in the boxâŚ
If its not low oil, its gonna have to wait until I am on leave and can swap the box to a new one⌠I really canât be bothered breaking down because i kept driving itâŚ
I have tried to record the sound but it gets blocked out by the wind and the exhaustâŚ
Oil in box is pretty important, but to be honest, Iâve never checked or changed manual gearbox oil.
Maybe drop a little oil, and have a good look for metallic particles with a magnet.
If so, Iâd get that 'box out, and find a replacement. If itâs happenning in all gears now, something has come adrift.
Can you run it through the gears (safely) while up on stands?
P.S. Just a thought?? If itâs noisy in all gears, how are your CV joints?
See Nick Chen at N&B Driveshafts. He knows them backwards
If youâre in Canberra and have FWD⌠youâll love this guy.
(See the review on the Micra Site)
(Maybe something similar on similar lines could work for L2D. Just the positive reviews, not the rants!)
Done an Auto Gearbox filter/oil kit change on a Ford NC Fairlane, and it was amazing how well it performed.
Well last weekend I dumped the oil and changed it.
I ran some HDD magnets (pretty strong) through the oil and did not find any metal.
I filled it back up, not with redline SP unfortunately⌠and the sound is now gone.
So the sound is gone but the sale I did have lined up has fallen throughâŚ
The sound only begun after making the deal on the sale⌠is this an omen?
I think so
, car saying âI donât wanna gooooâ
Advertising has gone mainstream.
