Hello here is a late introduction.
I’m from Denmark, I work full time as a mechanic, and has a love for Japanese kei cars!
I recently bought a rusted Daihatsu mira gino, very rare in Denmark! Imported by someone else in 2016, and now it’s my duty to restore it to its former glory. I’m looking forward to the journey and to be apart of this community!

Welcome to the forum!. I love the blue. I don’t think I have seen a blue one before. Is the engine an efdet?
Yup, currently in the machine shop getting the cylinders bored to fit ej pistons

Oh I love that. Does the ejde piston fit on the efdet rod?
I only ask as I have an efdet and because they are rare here in Australia I haven’t been game in opening it up. If they indeed do then that is a great possibility.
Pin size on both is 16mm and same compression height, ej piston also has a little bit longer skirt, don’t think it’s an issue, we’ll see. Ej head gasket fits straight on also, although it’s 1,3mm thick and efdet is 1,1mm

Yeh I have an ejde and a efdet and I think I have some spare ejde pistons somewhere, but not sure. The efdet really does look like an ejde so I knew many parts would cross over like the head gasket’s.
I usually prefer the fibre gaskets over the mls ones as they are a little more forgiving with flatness. I have used ejde head gaskets on ed and other ef engine’s too they just have an extra bit for the extra oil gallery.
Is the efdet piston the same in the top as the ejde? as in a slight dish and valve cuts? or is it more like the earlier ef pistons that were domed?
The ejde piston does have a larger dome, the valve cut outs look the same. I hope the engine still runs well with the compression change
