Hi, new user, visenna here.
I’m from Poland and I do own blue metallic Daihatsu Charade g100 (petrol, 993ccm, 40kW, 1992) for more than 20 years now - it was my first car (a friend imported it from Germany, but after a year concluded it’s too small for him, and that’s how my parents bought it for me). I love it, and it’s still great (in my opinion it’s huge inside for a car so small, a lot of strange things I packed in there, including bathtub-with closed trunk doors!), although unfortunately I have a lot of problems with parts in my country and with mechanics who wants to work with such an old car… That’s how I found this forum - in search for some schematics or help from people with who know Daihatsu. The similar Daihatsu forum in my country died a few years ago (not a lot of Daihatsu in Poland). Currently my friend, who’s a mechanic, said he will try to fix my Daihatsu-after bad work of other mechanik beforehand-but he works daily with french cars, so Daihatsu is out of his area of expertise and he’s struggling a bit.
Nice g100. Great pics. Not many people here have had their Dai for 20yrs. I hope you find what you are after here. Reach out if you need parts and post in the wanted section.
…English is not my native language, so sorry for all the mistakes…
What mistakes? Your Engluish translator is working fine.
I would be more worried about this guwno apple. It’ll spoil the juice you are about to press out of it:
I find it odd that there used to be a Polish language Daihatsu forum. When I was last in Poland, I don’t recall ever seeing any Daihatsus whatsoever
Hehe, I only used a translator for some specific car-mechanics words I didn’t know, I learned both english and german in school (the second one I unfortunately mostly forgotten). Apples were mostly for horses, but we ate the fare shate too:)
There are some Daihatsu in Poland, but not many. I only once saw identical Charade as mine in my city a few years ago and one identical restored to nearly-new for sale in an online advertisement. But this model was more popular at some point-during PRL period it was sold exclusively to higher PZPR members-only those could afford any car (it was a commumist party that ruled for years not-democratically and was connected to Soviet Union. I suppose along Fiat 126p, 125p and maybe Lada? I’m not sure, I don’t remember it myself, because I was too young at the time). A friend of mine had Daihatsu Rocky.

Thank You very much! It’s fixed already, my mechanic friend managed without schemes:D
I considered the German forum, but thought I first try in language I do understand without problems - in german it would be quite hard, since I never knew it good and I don’t use it and don’t remember much.
My car is quite new, Charade g100 - from 1992 and this one was imported from Germany by a friend of my fathers. But Charade g100 and I think some previous model also (although I’m not sure, I’ll ask someone who remembers when I’ll have the opportunity) were sold in Poland during PRL. I’m sure the party big shots were also getting better cars (even though not many brands were sold in Soviet Union), this one was probably for some minor members or for the public if they somehow managed to collect enough dollars, german marks or PKO bank coupons (prices were unthinkable-in early '80 Fiat 126p was sold for about 1700 USD with monthly income about 30 USD, and daihatsu charade g11 was 3 times more expensive. Here’s an article about it, but it’s in Polish: Pewex w PRL. Jak Polacy kupowali nowe samochody za dolary ). Any kind of car in Poland at this time was a super-exclusive item.
Suzuki is much more popular here in Poland, there’s quite a lot of Swift, Vitara and Jimmy - at least I know a few people who had or have those.
I vaguely remeber PEWEX. It did some shopping for small items there.
Yeah, those Polonez cars were a joke. They had the weirdest exhaust sound, passing me by. I never knew that you could only buy these with dollars, given that I’ve never seen these in any other country for export. Denmark might of had these. But, I never went back there, after these Polonezs entered the market.
A standard oil cooler on an imported car destined for Germany is a curious oddity. Perhaps, this oil-cooler doubled as an oil-heater, during winter. Is yours a removable plate sandwiched between your engine block and oil filter? I intended on doing something like that also, because I’m using high viscosity oil in my engine
yes, it’s between the engine and the oil filter, very similar to those in this discussion:
this one how mine looks (I’ve got a picture from my mechanic, when we were searching for the seal - ofcourse it was not available anywhere, so he fitted an o-ring there and for the time being it’s working):
