I really liked your post :), From my experience I would add a couple of comments:

The K3VE2 likes to revs, runs well at low RPMs but is especially cheerful over max torque up to it’s redline (with Stock ECU it stays around 7000 RPM, with Programmable ECU it pulled well up to 8000 RPM).

The 3SZ is a very long stroke engine, hence the torque, as you say it will always respond no matter what the rev range. I also feel the same as you, go especially at half throttle. In particular with K3VE2 cams the engine is lively up to 7200 RPM but piston speed can be a bit high due to the long stroke.
If the 3SZ turns out to be as strong as the K3VE2 I’ll stay with it, but gossips say that it fail more, we would have to see what happens.
