L501 Suspension issues

Hi there, recently I drove around some friends meaning there was 4 of us in my Cuore (L501). Everything went fine except for the rear springs. They maxed out constantly, even when just turning the suspension would hit the bump stop. Obviously this is far from ideal.

So my question to you all: how do I resolve the issue of the spings bottoming out ?
Or: what other spring can and should I install to prevent this issue?

What suspension is the car currently fitted with?

I believe it’s all stock

As @Mr_Gormsby would say increase the spring rate of the rear springs. I wouldn’t bother lowering it but if you do you want the rear springs to be firmer than the front springs. It helps with turn in and reduces understeer.
A standard height higher spring rate spring should stop the car from hitting bump stops. It is possible that the factory springs are suffering from fatigue.

Fatigue seems right. Unless the adults sitting on the rear seat are Sumo wrestlers, the vehicle should never be hitting bump stops. If, however, one plans on loading the vehicle to above its maximum allowed weight, L601 springs would be the answer

Rear rate is not that high standard. The other variable to hitting bump stops other than mass of the load in the back seat could be a pretty rough road or how it is driven. Increased rear rate will only hurt ride quality which isn’t great to start with. It would certainly improve driving characteristics otherwise.

While everyone is saying increase the spring rates and I agree with them. I will also add that adding hyundai x2 rear shocks will improve it dramatically as well. This can be a cheap easy to find mod that may help also.
It will make it bumpier in the back but it is usually one of the first things I have done with all my L2 and L6’s I have had.
You will need to cut the crush tubes flat with the bush and shoe horn them in a little especially at the top but the do go in. If you are keeping stock springs first you may have to compress them a little to get them in also. It will lower the rear slightly as the spring will be under a bit of pressure and a little compressed.

I have the L251 rear springs under my friends L501

seems to help when fully loaded
