Perodua kenari = daihatsu move

I did then have a problem with rear engine mounts being slightly different, i fitted the shiny clean one fitted to new engine, but no its a different size engine mount at rear, only by about 5mm, so had to change it.
…Engine and gearbox delivered was £375…
Just under 445€ for both engine and transmission delivered is a bargain price, especially considering the low milage claimed. Are you intending on keeping your automatic transmission?
…Cambelt was also changed…
Hopefully, the tensioner also. From the looks of it, it appears to be possible to remove the harmonic balancer, without needing to shift the subframe to one side
…its a different size engine mount at rear, only by about 5mm…
That mount doesen’t look familiar whatsoever. Wasn’t the previous engine also an EJ? If not, what then was in there?

Kenari is manual, staying manual,
The chassis rail has a hole through it to undo bottom pully.
It was an ej, guessing perodua had changed the mounts for some reason.

Engine all in, plumbed up, price of a standard catalytic converter in uk was more than the budget at that time could stretch to, so a sports cat was purchased, cut and welded to the modified original manifold. Not pretty but does the job.

Engine started, (eventually after changing throttle body from old engine) ran lovely.
Only one issue, eml blazing brightly on dash.

Diagnostic check showed it was either camshaft position sensor or its wiring.

Sensor changed but still not out. Need to do a continuity test on the wires.

Next i carried on with front end changes, along with paint. Again on a strict budget.

Removed front fog lights (strange fog lights considering they are level with headlights)
I then cut a big hole in front grill panel.

Then i made my own modified grill.

I also modified the bumper, cutting out the centre section.

That gives away the colour.

This is finished front end.

Left hand or right drive vehicles in Netherlands needs fog light the middle or left.
Not mandatory to be mounted on the left.

Only after 1998 it is mandatory here

Only mandatory in uk on rear from year 1980,
…price of a standard catalytic converter in uk was more than the budget at that time could stretch to…
I don’t yet know about the U.K… Over here, there’s a company who cleanses catylitic converters. Well, yours was perforated. So, nothing more could have been done, to save it :weary:
…Not pretty but does the job…
It’s no uglier than the original. If you install the heat shield once again, that’ll give you slightly more horsepower, because a hotter exhaust will move gas quicker. Of course. once your budget gets better, you could eventually swap the catylist for extractors and then mount a catylist under the floorboard, if you want to. The main reason for mounting it in the engine compartment is because it’ll heat up quicker there
…The chassis rail has a hole through it to undo bottom pully…
So does mine. Supposedly, converting over to an EJ in a Japanese MOVE makes it impossible to remove that pulley, without moving the entire drivetrain to the right. In your vehicle, it looks like it isn’t a problem
…its a different size engine mount at rear, only by about 5mm…
They must have had a good reason for using a narrower mount. They obviously had cast an additional boss for some sort of additional bracing:

A couple weeks ago it actually made it outside, more paint needs to be done, but it runs ok (apart from eml)

Will you mount a narrower taller front numberplate like they do in Japan, Australia and in the U.S:?

Trying to find cause of eml shining brightly!!! Lol
Came up with code p0340.
Changed camshaft position sensor but I’m beginning to think its a wiring fault.
Going to do a continuity test, so out with the glove box to access ecu. I’m guessing the wites are same colour each end?
