Daiharris Track/Streeter L200 build.. The quest for hilarity

Hyundai Excel Koni reds are what I used previously. Not externally adjustable but not to big of a hassle to undo the bolt to adjust.

Ah alright sweet as man… Yeah I had koni mk2’s in my 180 at the end with eibach springs and it was brilliant, so I assume I’ll try and go down that route again… Cheers though man…

So a tiny update,

I took apart the callipers since I’m going to rebuild them and when I finally got thrm apart I noticed that they had QFM pads in them, in the past I have used A1RMs in the 180 when I didn’t feel like paying 350 bucks for the project mu’s, and they were very good…

So after a quick call to QFM I decided to order some custom pads, which are ultimately A1RMs but custom made to fit into the callipers I have here… I was ready to pay 200 bucks for a set since it was still going to be cheaper than the Winmax through yahoo Japan and you can’t have too many sets of brake pads, and for some obscure reason with my awesome cost price deal cause I’m a legend it came out to 120 bucks a set… That is CHEAPER than I paid for my off the shelf A1RMs for my 180 years ago. So being the legend I am I ordered two sets… And depending on how long everything takes to get here I’ll try both thr Winmax and the qfms to see which ones I like best…

You can also see there that whoever painted the callipers last time also painted the back of the brake pad, so this pretty funny. The plan is to rebuild those callipers since I’ve done it before and clean them up and paint them…

I also made sure the clutch was installed straight, as the universal alignment tool I have seemed dodgy… First time I was all concerned that r wasn’t straight… So I pulled it off and redid it, and it looks to be straight as an arrow now…

I also made a trip to the local Toyota dealer where my mum works to se if they could source me a replacement o ring for he fuel cradle, because this one is fucked…

Facebook says that the M100 cradle o ring is the same so I ordered one of those, 10 bucks with my mums staff discount thing…

Alright that’s it for now, I’ll be picking up the rebuild kit for the callipers tomorrow and will get that done whilst I wait for the LCA’s to come and the brake pads… I haven’t settled on rotors yet. I noticed they don’t make t3 rotors in the size I want so I might have to gey some othet slotted ones, I’ll cross that bridge when i come to it…

Drive safe guys!

Mini update… Apparently they only had one calliper rebuild kit in Australia for some reason so I jumped online and ordered a kit from the UK, 35 pounds or something so not too bad… In the meantime I thought I’d finish pulling callipers apart and repaint them so they aren’t that horrible half red…

I started by popping the pistons out to check for scores, remarkably they are in pretty good shape so no need to replace them for now. Decided to give them a clean since there was heaps of shit on them.

As you can see the left one is cleaned and the right one isn’t, so a noticeable difference there… I also tried cleaning up the calipers with some brake cleaner and then degreaser and although it got lots of the shit off, it’s still not flawless… I think I’ll hit it with some heavier sruff when I get the chance…

The grey colour isn’t dirt it’s where the old shitty red paint has come off, so once I get it cleaned properly I’ll paint them up and get them ready for the rebuild kit

Other than that not much happened, got the rear hubs redrilled to 4x100 and got thone back, awesome job and only cost me 100 bucks for the pair so can’t argue with that… I don’t have a photo of that yet but once I take one I’ll upload it…

Also because the bmc and booster was so fucked I was on the hunt for a replacement, a guy in Perth who was wrecking an L200 offered me some them for cheap as chips so I jumped on those. They should be here next week so I can start looking at what I’m going to do in regards to custom lines…

That’s it for now peeps… Peace!

If doing custom lines then get rid of the silly cross over brake block and bias valve. I run a single line to the rear through a tilton bias valve and then to a hydor handbrake.

Yeah 100% going to do that… Had a bias valve in the 180 and it was one of the best investments I made…

Alright so just a tiny update. Got the heat gun sorted and gave the wrapping another try. And holy shit thr heatgun Is the key…

No heat gun - check out how shitty the corners are

And with the heat gun - check how awesome the corners are…

So yeah, no other real updates… Waiting for my plethora of parts to arrive in the mail, have been soaking the fuel tank in white vinegar the lay few days so once I’m happy with how clean it is I’ll reinstall the pump and cradle and bolt it all back up…

Got a 98 Sirion stored at my local wreckers that I’m using to rebuild my 2001 Sirion hoping to have it going soon , the motor & gearbox are still in it ,the head has been removed but is in the back of the car no idea of it’s overall condition but if you email me at snakemann5533@gmail with a list of bits I will check them out & take pics if you want. Going out there soon so let me know.

Cheers man, I think I’m actually good right now… Just waiting on the mail now hahaha

no worries if at anytime you need something give me a shout my local dismantler is a good friend & keeps an eye out for hard to get bits .

I suppose a read disc setup from an applause would be awesome but I assume they are rare to find. Thanks anyways bra, I’ll definitely keep you in mind…

Alright you dogs, so noting has really happened lately as I’ve been waiting for shit to arrive in he mail…

And it came!

Calipers rebuild kit

The L700 LCA’s

The rda slotted rotors

So yeah work csn be done now… Will rebuild the calipers tomorrow, then mount those and rotors to the hub, bash out the L200 lca and install the L700 one and then mount the hubs with brakes and shit done…

Then I can stick the wheels I have on and roll the car into the yard so I can give the engine bay a proper clean with the pressure sprayer and get it ready for the engine to go in…

Here’s some photos of the 15s I got just to roll the car around on… It touches the inner wheel well and pokes out about an inch, so obviously 205s on a 15x6.5 wheel with +35 offset would only work with flares and extensive wheel well bashing… The car looka funny with that much rubber on it though…

And the wrapping practice is finished I think, I redid the fuel lid and the corners were perfect, so it looks like it’s time to get the super secret colour out and get it happening… The carbon looks pretty good but I dont think I’ll leave it, I’m not a huge fan of having fake carbon stuff on my car hahahaha

Also I ordered my turbo, got a td04-13t coming with a billet wheel so boost shouldn’t be too late coming on…

And off topic I ordered some custom shoes like six months ago because I’m a shoe whore and a wheel whore, they are super pretty…

And also I got ruby a new bed cause she was being a grub and kept kicking my other dog out of her bed… Super cute.

Pics galore! Alright peace guys…

Wow, brand new L700 control arms! If you think 205/50/15s are tight on the front, then just wait till you attempt to put then on the front. I guess you’ve seen the work on mine to get 15x7s to fit on the rear. I’m part way through getting them on the front.

Hahaha yeah the brand new control arms are super pretty. and yeah seeing those 205s on the back doesn’t give me hopes for the front, looks like 185s are going to be the way to go for thr AR1s… ah well, I don’t need to be able to steer much with these tyres on, just so I csn roll the car around…

Where did you source the L700 lca? What price?

Hey dude… So the control arms were a fuck around but I speak very basic German so I was able to get around it with Google translate and my high school memory that wasn’t affected by marijuana…

https://okzam.de

So thsts the website. If you go there using a desktop you can have the browser auto translate the page, search ā€˜cuore’ in the search box at the top and go from there…

It ended up being about 135 bucks delivered or some shit, let me know if you have issues I have no problem doing it again for ya…

Alrighty, a fairly mixed bag of updates here, but here we go…

So since my caliper rebuild kit came I decided to do those… Stripped them down, repainted them red, and re assembled with the kit… No real issues other than getting the piston boot ring to slot back into place, apparently there isn’t a trick and it just takes patience, eventually I got it done.

And the finished product…

AlriAlright next was the coilovers came… Now I’m usually not a fan of cheap coilovers but it was a cheaper option to get the car running whilst I do my proper homework to sort out how i want to go about it…

But if you’re following along on facey you will know that for some stepid reason I measured the hole distance for the uprights and thought they were the same L700 and L200 and they are not… So my L200 coilovers were not a straight bolt up to the L700 hubs…

Thrn a lovely man @FortisD suggested I just drill the holes out since It was only off by about 4mm so I whipped the Dremel out and away I went.

DSC_0044

So one side is now completed even though I didn’t take a photo of it done, but I ran out of time so tomorrow it will have to be…

The other thing I did today was completely mount the brakes on the hubs with thr new rotors, personally I love the look of new brakes so here they are…

DSC_0041

Also I installed the new LCA’s, I attached a pic of them next to the old ones for a later comparison for everyone to use…

A few interesting things to notice here, mostly that the length difference is negligible, but more so to me that the L700 has a slight curve in it. As well as the ball joint angle is different on the L700 lca… The swaybar hooked up perfectly though and the knuckle went onto the ball joint easily so it’s all going well…

But the biggest news of all…

I hate my daily… It’s a 2004 spec b liberty, but I’m a Nissan boy and I hate this Subaru… It’s a perfectly fine car, but ita boring as shit… So I decided that I’m gonna buy a cheap daily and then sell the liberty and find a 4 door r34…

So the cheap daily I purchased today, is…

A 1998 Sirion! With only 81 thousand ks, car is in awesome condition except for the paint on the bonnet thay is faded, but the engine bay and interior is all clean as fuck… $400 as is, but I sussed the car out and gave it a run around thr block and the only issue I could see is the aircon needs to be regassed…

So yeah, mixed bag of news, the sirion is getting dropped off tomorrow so I cam get you guys some pictures then…

Once the other coilover is finished I can mount all that shit properly and get wheels on it and roll it into the yard so I can pressure wash the engine bay then engine can go in…

Drive safe peeps!

some good progress all round there mate :+1:

Seeing that you dremel that hole probably you should purchase camber bolts
