Green Copen

I bought a small and cheap sandblast gun, and it’s working pretty well with a bit of prep on the bad parts.

Also, paint came in! Alu colour for the block and body colour for the valve cover.

Dai parts! The head bolts are packed like individual snacks and all the hoses and clamps for the turbo cooling system are here too. Yay!

That’s because they’re sold per bolt instead of a set like the aftermarket bolts.
So just buy as many as you want/need. :joy:

Sure I’ll only replace 2 next time

I hope your Copen will be soon back on the road again ! You’ve done so much engine work…

Hello, long time no see.

Recently some of the last parts came in. Mostly the chain, guiders, tensioner, etc.

So I started prepping stuff to put it all back together.

I used MoTip paint for the block, in “Aluminium” colour.

I finally got the head resurfaced as well. As well as a quick bath and a leak test (which turned out fine).

And some more paint yesterday in the body colour :yum:.
It still needs clear coat though.

Can’t wait to see it run. Especially with how great the weather has been :sob:.

Officially putting things back together instead of taking them apart.

Finally getting to replacing the thing that failed.

Timing is mostly new. The chain, guiders and tensioner are all NoS. I tried to order the oil pump chain but it was out of stock. But it looks fine. The timing components weren’t even in bad shape in the first place. It’s just a “while the engine is out anyways” kinda thing.

Almost looks like an engine again. How odd.

A few more things on order, that I was missing:

  • Rocker cover gasket (I had the wrong one)
  • Rear main seal
  • Transmission mount

So yeaaaa, getting ever so close to driving again.
