Hey guys I’ve picked up a manual transmission for my 2001 l701 coure and I’m hoping to do a manual swap sometime soon I just am unsure what parts from here I am missing besides the manual pedal box and clutch cable? I feel like maybe there’s somthing missing in the bell housing?
L700 Gearbox is a linkage set up and not cable like in the picture. I presume the gearbox in the picture is the auto?
If it isn’t I will presume that gearbox is then from an L2, L5 or L600. It can still be done with that gearbox but your mount to the sub frame maybe different and you may need to do something about the driveshafts as the box sits in a different place than an L700 manual gearbox.
I am not 100% certian on the drive shafts as I have not owned an L700 but for L2,5 and 600 the gearbox sits differently and cv shaft (atleast for the driver side) needs to be custom.
The box in the photo is indeed the manual transmission and the cables definitely are made for that box because it has the brackets for them on it so maybe it isn’t a l700 box? Bit of a shame because I brought it off the dude saying it was a l700 transmission
What country are you in? I tried to look at the plate on your other post and can’t quite make it out. Is it QLD Australia? and yeh that is definitley an L2,5 and 6 gearbox.
In regards to the other post about the sirion yes it will all fit. That sirion linkage for the gear’s would be good to grab also. The only thing I don’t know would be the pedal box would probably be different. If your in Aus the gearbox should resell pretty easy as they are getting harder to get.
Sweet as, yeah I’m from QLD Brisbane. My plan is to pretty much take the whole EJ out of the sirion with the gearbox attached so all I have to do is drop it in the coure. I guess the other gearbox I’ll just have to re sell but that’s okay. Thanks a lot for your help
no probs at all mate there is quite a few of us in QLD. Im on the goldcoast. What are you going to do with the auto box?
The auto box from the L701 I’m unsure weather I’ll keep it as a spare or sell it off. Only thing is I probably won’t find a another auto box (if I for some reason ever needed a new one) as good as the one I’ve got, becuase my coure only has 90,000 kms on it and is all pretty mint
Auto driveshafts should fit manual box straight in a.f.a.I.k.
Got an all the parts I need I’m just missing the flywheel anybody know what fly wheel I should buy that will fit part number or somthing? Cheers
EJDE/EJVE flywheel.
see picture 1
Sweet I was wondering if that would work coz I thought the coure’s have dual mass fly wheels but I test fitted that fly wheel and it seems like it will work
No all dais dont have dual mass. Very conservative design
Here’s a photo of the fly wheel there’s a few diffenrt pressure plates I’ve noticed some won’t work as the are doffernt size will this go on the coure when I Maunal swap it fine? The pressure plate closest to the camera in the bottom photo is the one that will fit the fly wheel in the top 2 photos you will see how the other pressure plate will not work,
Any advice helps thanks
Was also curious how the clutch cable will connect see photos below (and how it will reach without disengaging the clutch atleast halfway as that is the clutch cable fully extended)
Thanks
Does the other clutch work? The one that.fits
the flywheel and the pressure plate above are L2/5/600 and maybe same with your clutch cable.
This below is the ej pressure plate.
You can use the L2/5/L600 set up which is lighter and will be better for throttle response and in my opinion better all together.
When you take out the auto box there should be a spacer on the flex plate (auto flywheel) but it wont be a spacer there. If you use that and put it in between your L2 crank and flywheel then you can use it. If you don’t use it you wont be able to engage the clutch.
I know because I have done it.
Hey fellas I’ve pulled the motor and mounted the manual transmission all works good just wondering if I need to plumb in these hoses I found on the auto box onto the manual box or not? Only thing there are no spots to hook up the hoses on the manual
just leave them off.
Almost done with the manual swap now surprisingly smashed it all out in 3 days all by myself ahahah. Believe it or not, the sirion manaul pedal box fit perfectly to a coure and needed 0 modification. All Manual sirion parts have fit the coure even including the manual interior trims like the shifter boot and boot housing trim piece.
wow that’s great info I would have expected the pedal box not to fit.
