That’s an inspiration for casting inner fender wells in fiberglass, after I’ve collected several 60 litre plastic jugs which held distilled water from where my neighbor works. Cutting them up and forming them using a hot air gun would have been too much work for uncertain success.

The heating and forming of the plastic is a different idea for sure. No clue if it would have the strength though.
The fiberglass moulding is easy and a proven way. the longest part is taping it all off tbh, took me about an hour each side to lay enough tape down.
