The build thread of Awsten

I have been searching long and hard to find a wiring diagram for the EF-DET.

I believe I have found one though I am not sure if its for the ECU I have or the ECU that @evilhighway has… in any case its all in Japanese, is anyone here able to translate?

I tried a few online places but they all failed to do it due to it being a PDF with images and not plain text…

So has been some time since I last posted but have been busy organising bits and bobs for the car.

From Malaysia I ordered

  • New engine mounts
  • Drivers side LCA
  • New Drivers and Passenger Drive Shafts
  • New hoses
  • New dipstick (the one on new engine was a bit damaged)

I have also found and purchased an ECU and a L700s EF-DET Engine Loom which looks to have the correct plugs for the ECU I am getting, these will arrive sometime in March.

Been a busy couple weeks at home so have not done any work on the car recently but will be getting stuck back into it soon enough

Been a while since I posted, between waiting on parts and the hot weather I’ve been pretty slow at making progress.

However over the past few days I managed to make some progress…

I got the new engine mounts installed, the lower control arms replaced, new hoses and belts on the new engine.

My new ecu has arrived and in the middle of working out how to make it all work electrical wise.

Lastly just need to get the clutch and flywheel installed, gearbox on and wiring harness fitted and then will be going back into the car

How did you embed a video ?

So the previous video was a bit of a trick in that I didn’t have the EF-DET computer running and it was started from the EJ computer.

Not because I didn’t know how, big thanks to Luke K for giving me the needed hint before it was needed, I just had big struggles popping pins from the ecu plug.
So today my BIL comes around, auto electriction, fixes the one pin to make it run new ecu

Using streamable.com (with an account)

We have the native capability to do it and I thank everyone (even myself) for the donations to continue to run the forum :pray:

But we simply couldn’t survive if we hosted the videos internally.

Good catch though, you might even see from the past two videos I experimented with rotation of the phone, second one is best.

Didn’t get much done today as was doing weekly chores but did manage to get the new shafts installed today

And with new gearbox seals installed, no evidence of leakage

Got a bit more done today

Installed a t piece to main radiator hose to feed water to turbo, seems OK and no leaks.

Got a pod filter installed, I think I’ll order something smaller from online but this will do for the moment

And almost got it back together for it to head to exhaust shop and have that rigged up to the new engine.

lookin good

Today I got to finishing off the rest of things to get the car back on the ground, I swapped the air filter for a small motorbike one, it is a much better fit the the big filter I had, hopefully it isn’t too small

Got the bumper bar back on

And got the exhaust back up on its hangers and then wheels on and back on the ground

Last thing that needs solving is the exhaust but that will have to be resolved by an expert

Then once it is trusted that this has been successful new wheels and tyre’s will be going on

that filter is the same size as what I had on my turbo move. worked well. Would it be worth getting the whole exhaust done at the same time? It will make it flow better and not restrict it. If funds available ofcoarse.

I don’t know if you recall but did get the exhaust done already

Though the very first section of it was still original so when I get it modified to suit I will get it 2inch the entire way

oh yeh i had forgotten

Just a small update

Have not been driving the car much, when I ordered new seals for the gearbox I was only able to get one genuine one and one non genuine, sadly the non genuine one is leaky, unsure if my mistake or it’s just not quite right.

Have ordered new seals from Toyota and have a ten or so week wait for them, then the fun of refitting it

On a positive note, the car is fun to drive though I am keeping an eye out for a copen gearbox to replace the long ratio EJ box as it’s not quite suited for the 660.

Exhaust has been fixed

And ssome Led lights have been installed
