Local small business. They have a really good name for themselves.
We have glass!
I followed the GTti page on Facebook and found info around using the Daewoo matiz window seal as the charade ones are near on impossible to source.
One small issue i came into was more cosmetic than anything but the gap between the window seal and door was quite large and your eye was drawn to the white in the gap. We decided to put a coat of black to it wasnt so noticeable.
Also fitted the rear window. Next will be installing the rest of the windows and having them tinted.
The Genuine partno. for the seal is 04562-87701.
You’d be surprised how much is still available, so it’s definitely worth a try.
If i ever need a new window ill keep that in mind.
I went to the local paint supplies shop to match up some vinyl paint for the plastic trim panels as the roof lining is now a slightly different colour to factory. What a difference! I was a little unsure at first but im glad i have sprayed them.
Ive also fitted the rest of the windows. Got some nice stainless dome head bolts as the factory screws were abit average.
And the speedlines are on too! All rims balanced up nicely. I did have one rim that had a slight buckle that i had repaired.
Im still deciding if i want to lower the coilovers a little more.
Power is on! Ive hooked up all the battery cables and turned the key to accessories. Currently going through and sorting out some minor issues.
fantastic. On another note you sure do know how to build anticipation haha.
You wouldn’t believe how much i am hanging to drive this!
i think I would have just a little idea haha!
Earlier in the week i received my fuel tank from being modified as i couldn’t find a 2 door fuel injected tank. I have had the ports in the 4 door location patched and relocated into the 2 door location.
New fuel pump installed to the hanger. On a previous post i had -6an fittings installed to the feed and return. Have made fuel lines with an inline filter.
Once i get some fuel into the tank, I will ensure there are no leaks coming from the relocation welding. Then remove again for touch of paint.
If you have access to an air compressor you could do a pressure test as opposed to a leak test. Block off all entry / exit points and have one point with a nitto or similar fitting. Set the regulator to 5 psi, and spray with a handle held pray bottle with water / dish washing mix.
Its easier to wipe down and weld if necessary than if you leak test with petrol.
I was planning on doing it this way but with the limited time i have due to work going out and findings blanking caps for the fill port i thought id just do it this way. It needed to go up to mock up the fuel lines anyway. Atleast if its filled it will flush out any debris left in the tank thats i couldnt flush out.
So after pressure testing the fuel tank and finding lots of little pin holes from the tig welding. I decided to have the entire tank sealed. Found my local radiator shop can do the sealing.
Installed the tank this afternoon. Just need to wire in the pump.
After figuring out that i had the incorrect drive shafts… I got one from and mate and managed to get one from one from over east.
Rebuilt one shaft and installed. The other unfortunately the end spline had broken off so currently in the process of having it repaired.
Got my sunvisors back from being trimmed and installed. Just painted the mounts and clips to suit to roof lining
Exhaust is back off the car. Dump pipe is being remade as i wasnt 100% happy with it.
So now that i have finished connecting the fuel tank and wiring. Today i got the bissel out and washed the back seats. The sun was out so dried in no time!
Got my covers back from being coated and installed them. Looking alot more complete now!
Took the spark plugs out to crank the engine and build oil pressure. Once that was done i installed new plugs that i gapped down to 0.6mm. I have trialled different plugs over the years and these i found worked the best and lasted the longest. They were on sale for less than half price so i bought all that the shop had stocked
Filled the fuel tank, no leaks! HooRay! Primed the fuel to the carby and attempted to start the engine. With afew bangs and pops i thought she would be running but on a closer look, the plunger seal has run dry and isnt working as i should. Parts ordered. Afew more weeks!
I got my grill back from being painted. A little lighter than i wanted the silver but it will do. Just need to touch up the black on the turbo badge and its good to install
I ended up buying a complete sealed brake light replacement for the spoiler. Original plans were to take the circuit board out and install it into my brake light casing but the whole unit fit inside the casing so i decided to glue it in place.
Just need to wire it in!
All wired in!
So as far as i know these spoilers never came out in Australia. Ive only ever seen them on the Kissa G100 models which ive only seen in Malaysia.
Ive seen this spoiler fitted to one other charade over here so im super excited to be running it!
Carby issue should be repaired now. Ordered a new accelerator pump and gasket kit. The old rubber seal was a little out of shape. While it was apart i ensured the float level was in spec and there were no contaminants or damaged parts. All looked great.
Seeing im running a bigger turbo and more boost pressure. Ive decided to use a small smear of loctite 515 on the gasket mating surfaces to ensuring it stays sealed. Ive used this sealant in lots of high pressure applications on machinery, so why not on the carby. All screws went in with a dob of retaining compound to ensure they stay tight.
Once it was all back together, i tested accelerator and it all felt smooth, i could hear the plunger building pressure and small spray of excess oil from soaking the plunger came out of the sprayer inside the bowl. I think we have a winner!
And its running!
Bled up the oil, topped up the coolant and checked for leaks. Good to go!
Took it for a quick lap around the block. So happy to finally drive it again.
Still needs alot until i drive it properly.
This morning i gave her a well deserved bath after building up a years worth of dust in the shed.
