it must have been the united thing then as they did get rid of it.
In Darwin we only had 98, one United servo brought in e85 but a few guys tested it and it and it wasnāt quite 85%. I always forget Darwin is about 10 years behind the rest of Australia hahaha for me it was like Christmas seeing that here
e85 can vary between batches. Depends on storage too. According to Graham Bell (1998)ll fuels are blended differently in diff lattitudes and varies a lot between summer and winter the closer to the poles you get.
So I drove the car for the first time today, just out of the workshop to the carpark. The motor is running well and the shifter feels real nice.
While I had the car on the hoist today I realised the rear spring seats are in the wrong place, didnāt notice it before but they need to be moved inward about 15mm. I thought maybe it was normal but I had another look at the blue car and confirmed.
At the moment itās not really a problem but I think it will become an issue when I fit heavier springs to the rear. Had another look at the rear eibach springs and itās not going to work out how I imagined.
Not sure if you are on facebook but a near complete (minus motor) rally 4 driveline has just come up on the daihatsu performane enthusiasts page in England
Thanks for the heads up
They run all the same stuff as the awd sport in Germany only different seats and different cam, Iām not really chasing anything at the moment. If it had an lsd I would be straight onto it but I think only the m112s in Japan had lsd
Yesterday I started with the battery relocation, the car used to have an amp in the rear and the cable was still there I think its 2AG but I doubled it up and there was enough to reach behind the passenger seat. Made a nice battery box and my boss sponsored me a brand new 47Ah exide premium. Just gotta buy some circuit breakers to finish the setup, will throw up some pics tomorrow.
Ive also been looking at koni inserts and unfortunately there isnāt anything available that will fit the sirion legs. The smallest O.D avaliable is 43.5mm, so back to the drawing board
Concerning the Konis, were those sizes for dropping a red or yellow cartridge in, or for swapping the insides?
Thatās the size for a cartridge from the 8610 or 8611 series. Iāve sent an email to koni asking if they have any other cartridges available to suit a 40mm I.D. maybe there is something designed for a specific make/model that has similar dimensions.
GAZ also do inserts but they donāt have a size chart in their catalogue so I have emailed them also asking for a size chart or if they produce a complete strut for the Sirion.
I thought it sounded like cartridges. Mine old ones, still in the car are Mk I Suzuki Swigt GTI cartridges that have had the insides taken out. Most recent ones Iāve made are a Honda insert with the body removed and placed into a Sirion leg. What I am really after is this, a pair of Koni 8611-1257 Race. I have to admit making things fit require a lathe and lateral thinking.
Unfortunately Iām limited to a mig welder, grinder and hand tools
And of course I have to remain tĆ¼v compliant
No luck with GAZ, still waiting to hear from koniā¦
Whatās involved in swapping internals? Is it possible to fit internals from an adjustable shock or will I need to use something with a fixed valve-rate?
I know straight away one of my biggest hurdles will be cutting a thread into the leg without a lathe, is there such a thing as a M40 thread tap, or is it only possible on a lathe?
There is prob an M40 x 1 or M40 x 1.25 tap out there somewhere. Would be cheaper to have an engineering shop turn the thread than buy such a tap. The Koni 8611 series (based on the single unit I have - alas my mate that I got it from lost the other) does not have a thread. The top seal is held in place by bending the top edge over.
Hey guys, Iām just about to leave for Aus, it will be a long journey, over 50hrs with buses, planes, transfers ect. I hope I get a chance to meet some of you while Iām there. Iāll be catching up with Mr G at some point, maybe if things work out Iāll get to meet a few other members too.
Soo our transit visa for China didnāt get approved which means we arenāt allowed to leave the airport and our connecting flight isnāt for another 10 hours. No Facebook, no Google and a bunch of other websites are banned as well. There isnāt much to do in the departure lounge, already done about 10 laps and seen everything already. Any ideas to help pass the time?
See if any of the first class lounges will let you in for cash. Or else I like to read a book.
We made it in one piece, itās nice to have some good weather for a change
What are the final drive ratios on the 1.3l Sirion and 1.0l Sirion?
