Hmm, the plot thickens.

Here’s the knock sensor from one of the guys EJ’s

@Mick I connected the OBD plug, I borrowed a scan tool but it couldn’t connect to it.
So I connected the earth terminal to test pin 31 to get the CEL to flash to read the blinks. No blinking CEL and I even tried starting the car again to see if it would throw a code but it didn’t.

Purchased a used knock sensor today aswell as another used MAP sensor to see if that helps.

Is the cel working at all? Should be on with ignition and go out when the engine is running

@Mick you know what, it wasn’t. I’m not sure why the circuit isn’t complete but the correct wires from ecu to body loom were connected. Just before it went dark I cut the wire and added an led to the CEL wire from ecu and connected it to power. It came on but I’ve yet to start the engine to see if it goes out, hopefully it does and maybe I’ll get a code(s).
Sorry, just tired as hell with this car, it’s been many months and should of really been a weekend job.

Oh also, is it normal for the engine to die in seconds if I block the head breather hose with my finger?

Video I took last weekend, it’s half the length of the original as Vimeo doesn’t like almost 1gb files.

Temporary LED being used for a CEL turns on with ignition then turns off with engine running. No codes being thrown with the OBD shorted.

Can’t read the marks as there’s too much in the way now.

Does not sound right. Should just build pressure till it pushes your finger off. Completely sealed I’d expect it to start leaking from cam and crank bearing seals

Yeah, I’m at a loss to be honest.
I’ve just put it in the air as I’ve discovered gearbox oil on the ground, location is unknown.
At the moment it’s clicking when cranked which normally indicates a dead battery. Except the battery is fully charged and I’ve even tried a second battery from my daily. I think the flywheel has jammed. In gear it won’t move forward if pushed.

The camshaft position sensor plug wires were back to front for the ejde sensor but correct for the efgl. Swapped them and it fired like normal with throttle response.
Holy cow, I was about to give up today

Thank you, I wish that I found the error earlier but I’m so glad it’s working now.

Next stage after tidying the wiring and bleeding brakes is to wrap it in olive green vinyl.
I’ve only removed the doors and hatch this morning. The rest of the day was spent going on a Sunday drive and ice creams with the family.

The mess I made getting the EFI to work…

They’ve been out for so long that I forgot how bad the front seats are. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a pair or throw some seat covers on them for the time being…

As someone who has wrapped a car by themselves, I would recommend leaving doors attached and doing everything in one hit.
Also invest in quality wrap, the difference between the cheap stuff vs 3M or Avory is huge, especially when it comes to stretching and pushing bubbles out. It is really worth the extra few dollars.

Regarding the seats, perhaps some Sirion ones would fit?

I have seen sirion seats in a mira and yeh need to be modified to fit. These have the same setup as a move for bolt holes for the seats. If you modded these in then the seats sit higher and if your a tall person it ain’t gonna work real well It did for the move as Im not tall and the move’s are really tall. I would definitely look at cover’s or something easy.
